Sound Tribe Sector 9

We just saw these guys last night, and they blew me away. If you haven't heard of them, definitely check them out. I had never heard of them until I went on a whim to see them last night and I have to say, seeing them live was quite the experience.

The Late Michael Hedges

Not to belabor the point, but this guy is better...and he came first. His name is Michael Hedges and he died in 1997 in a tragic car wreck. It seems a waste, but what he did for guitarists and the music world at large is beyond compare. This is a live performance of one of my favorites by him, "Aerial Boundaries". Notice that, first of all he makes no mistakes, and second that he is standing up, which as a guitar player myself, I could never do. He was not only innovative but extremely passionate- something we could all benefit from. The music may not be everyone's favorite, but you can certainly appreciate his talent.

Trace Bundy - The Acoustic Ninja

Now this guy can play the guitar. He's a relatively unknown musician, but, as he dubs himself "the Acoustic Ninja", he can do some amazing things that I've never seen before. I hope you can appreciate it...

Long Bets

Interesting site where not only can you read what others predict will happen in the future...you can actually BET on it! I don't know about actually placing a bet on this site, but it is humorous and interesting what people think will happen in the future.

A drawing a day project

A personal project by a guy name David Gauntlett for the sole purpose of getting better at drawing. Sparing any judgement on the quallity of the actual drawings- it is pretty cool to have a completely drawn website, and I do respect the discipline and passion for his craft.

The Art of Happiness

Link: The Art of Happiness

Our days are numbered. At this very moment, many thousands are born into the world, some destined to live only a few days or weeks, and then tragically succumb to illness or other misfortune. Others are destined to push through to the century mark, perhaps even a bit beyond, and savor every taste life has to offer: triumph, despair, joy, hatred, and love. We never know. But whether we live a day or a century, a central question always remains: What is the purpose of our life?

This guy seems to have it all figured out...the book is definitely worth a read. On the other hand...the one ounce joint might also qualify as a completely relevant endeavor to find happiness!
